What causes dulling and discoloration of teeth?
Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage
to teeth. Tooth dullness or staining is an indication that whitening
should be considered. Smokers and those who drink coffee and/or tea
on a regular basis accelerate the discoloration and require cleaning
more often. This is among the most common reasons for teeth whitening.
Tooth whitening is usually the first solution a New Jersey
dentist will try due to its lower cost. Please call us at
732-341-8500 or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about dulling or discoloration of teeth or to schedule
a free cosmetic consultation.
What is Bonding typically used for?
NJ dentists will tell you that Bonding is a tooth-colored
composite resin (similar to enamel) that is bonded to the tooth surface
to repair and/or change the color or shape of a tooth. It is then
sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished. When teeth are chipped
or slightly decayed, bonded composite resins may be the material of
choice. Bonding also makes a great tooth colored filling for small
cavities and broken or chipped surfaces. It can also be used to close
spaces between teeth. Additionally, it is used to cover the entire
outside surface of a tooth to change its color and shape. Dr. Rotem,
a top dentist in NJ, excels in bonding teeth. Please

What can be done for missing teeth?
Bridges are designed to replace missing teeth. Not only do they
fill the unsightly spaces left by lost teeth, but they also help support
the teeth adjacent to, and directly opposite, the missing teeth. Often,
central New Jersey dentists will recommend an Implant
to fill in the space as well. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about bridges and replacing missing teeth or to

How can jagged teeth be corrected?
In some instances, simple reshaping (contouring) of the front
teeth, even without anesthesia, may produce a dramatic result to correct
jagged, chipped or slightly uneven teeth. A New Jersey dentist
specializing in cosmetic dentistry simply utilizes sanding discs and
creativity, to create a natural look with existing teeth. Please call
us at 732-341-8500 or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about correcting jagged teeth or to schedule a
free cosmetic consultation.
I was told that I have a weak biting surface, what
can be done?
Crowns are used when making cosmetic improvements to the teeth
is the goal, but dentists in New Jersey and elsewhere
will tell you that they serve an additional purpose. A crown is placed
over a tooth, replacing most of its enamel. By its nature, it surrounds
the tooth, giving it strength and providing a strong, durable biting
surface, thereby alleviating the condition. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about correcting weak biting surfaces or to schedule
a free cosmetic consultation.
What are Porcelain and Ceramic Inlays?
Porcelain inlays are considered durable by most NJ dentists,
with a manufacturing process that enables a high degree of accuracy
in placing the inlay. Porcelain inlays bind onto the tooth and increase
the overall strength of the tooth. These inlays may cost more than
other types of filling procedures. Ceramic inlays are used to repair
somewhat damaged back teeth. They are made of very strong and durable
industrial ceramics. Dentists in New Jersey and elsewhere
glue ceramic inlays into place with special adhesives, which hold
the damaged parts of the tooth together. These inlays are quite durable,
and resemble a tooth in every way. They are also significantly stronger
than regular filling materials. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about porcelain and ceramic inlays or to schedule
a free cosmetic consultation.
I have Porcelain Laminate Veneers, why are they so
special?
According to Dr. Ronen Rotem, a top dentist in NJ
among central New Jersey dentists, many times, the
demands of cosmetic changes in the mouth are too great for simple
bonding. This is when porcelain laminate veneers may be used. Porcelain
veneers, sometimes referred to as laminates, can alter an entire smile.
Porcelain laminate veneers are quick, painless, and effective. They
can change shape, color, size, and arrangement of teeth or any combination
of these factors. They can be used as an alternative for orthodontic
treatment. The best part about porcelain laminate veneers is that
they can be placed in two visits. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about porcelain laminate veneers or to schedule
a free cosmetic consultation.
When are Porcelain Jackets recommended?
When there is not enough tooth structure left, or the chewing
demands in the mouth are too great for laminates, a New Jersey
dentist will recommend a stronger, more extensive restoration.
In this case, porcelain jacket crowns are used. Porcelain jackets
are pure porcelain crowns placed on a fully prepared tooth. They are
the most life-like of all full crown type restorations. Please call
us at 732-341-8500 or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about porcelain jackets or to schedule a free cosmetic
consultation.
What if Porcelain Jackets are not enough?
When biting pressure is too great for porcelain jackets, teeth
are loose due to periodontal disease, or gaps from missing teeth must
be filled in, a New Jersey dentist must place a metal
alloy under the porcelain for strength. This is the porcelain-fused-to-metal-crown
technique. Your New Jersey dentist will remove more
tooth structure to accommodate both metal and porcelain. Once an impression
is taken, a metal coping is made on the prepared tooth. This is then
covered with porcelain. Porcelain-fused-to-metal-crowns do not have
the translucency of pure porcelain crowns. However, a talented ceramist-dentist
in NJ with experience in custom staining can usually overcome
this limitation. When individual back teeth are broken down but some
good healthy tooth structure remains, porcelain-fused-to-gold inlays
are used. This is the strongest and longest lasting back teeth restoration
procedure. Once the tooth is properly prepared, the technique is similar
to the porcelain-fused-to-metal-crown technique. The benefit of this
restoration is the advantage of gold underneath, which supports the
tooth during heavy biting, therefore protecting the tooth and the
nerve. Please call us at 732-341-8500 or E-mail us

just enough to be unaware of the treatment, as if you were snoozing.
You will feel refreshed, with little or no memory of what was accomplished.
Because you are completely comfortable, Dr. Rotem and his team can
do years of dental treatments in one or two visits. Replace crowns
or dentures, restore sore gums to good health, whiten yellow or stained
teeth, fix a chipped tooth, and more. People with very busy schedules

Tell me more about Nap dentistry...
It Really Works! You take a small pill prior to treatment and there
are no intravenous tubes or needles. You will have little or no memory
of the experience. You won't remember any sounds or smells. You will
snooze for up to five to six hours after taking the pill. The time
you are snoozing will vary depending on your needed treatment.
Complex dental treatments that often require six to eight appointments
can be done in as little as one all while you snooze. People who have
difficulty getting numb will find that nap dentistry eliminates this
problem. Nap dentistry is a safe way to reduce the fatigue of extended
dental treatment requiring long visits. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about Nap dentistry or to schedule a free cosmetic
consultation.

Bad Breath (halitosis)
While bad breath might be a symptom of some other disorder, according
to most New Jersey dentists, it most likely stems
from dental decay and periodontitis. Periodontitis is a disease affecting
gums and bone that support the teeth, and it results from inadequate
tooth brushing and flossing. In this disease, the irritated gums pull
away from the teeth and form pockets between the teeth and the gums.
These pockets fill with bacteria and pus, which give off a foul odor.
Patients with bad breath should receive a complete dental evaluation.
If gum disease and/or dental decay are diagnosed, it can be readily
treated by Dr. Rotem, a leader among central New Jersey dentists
in this area. The patient will no longer have an infection in his
or her mouth, and he or she will no longer have the embarrassment
of bad breath. If you have questions regarding halitosis, or would

Repair Broken Teeth
Bonding is typically painless and can yield dramatic results in
a single visit to our central New Jersey dentists
office. Essentially, bonding hides any natural flaws through the placement
of a thin plastic coating on the front surface of the teeth. After
treating the tooth surface, a puttylike bonding material is applied
that is then sculpted, shaped and colored to suit the patient's needs.
A high-intensity light causes the plastic to harden after which the
new surface is smoothed and polished. Bonding can lighten stains,
close gaps and even alter crooked or malformed teeth. It can be utilized
to change the shape or color of a single tooth or if necessary to
revamp the entire smile. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net

Poor self-image, resulting in low self-esteem
The appearance of the teeth has a dramatic effect on both the
person's attractiveness to others and on their own self-image and
self-esteem. Studies have shown that a person's appearance will have
a strong effect on their social and career success, by influencing
how others perceive them. While the appearance of the teeth is one
of the most important contributors to facial beauty, it is also probably
the most often neglected when improvements to appearance are sought.
A person with low self-esteem connected to their facial appearance
can often be greatly helped by a top dentist in NJ,
like Dr. Rotem, who is certified for cosmetic dental procedures. A
dental make-over has become more common, less invasive, and more effective
in correcting deformities and cosmetic dental problems. The effect
of these procedures can be nothing short of dramatic both in terms
of appearance and in terms of correcting personality deficiencies
caused by poor self-image. Thanks to top cosmetic dentists
in New Jersey like Dr. Rotem, ugly teeth are no longer a
matter of fate; they’ve now become a matter of choice. Please
call us at 732-341-8500 or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about how cosmetic dentistry can result in positive
self-esteem or to schedule a free cosmetic consultation.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are often used by NJ dentists
for the same reasons as bonding. They are considerably more durable
and stain resistant than bonding. The veneer is actually a thin piece
of porcelain similar in size to a fingernail. Once it is "bonded"
onto the tooth it becomes extremely strong. It also blends in with
the remaining tooth structure so that it is unnoticeable to the naked-eye.
Once in place, it looks, feels, and functions just like a regular
tooth. Cosmetic dentists in New Jersey can utilize
porcelain veneers to change the shape and color of a single tooth
or, if necessary, revamp an entire smile. Porcelain veneers can also
be used to correct teeth that have been worn from clenching and grinding.
Please call Dr. Rotem at 732-341-8500 or E-mail us
at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about porcelain veneers or to arrange for a free
cosmetic consultation.
Too much filling, too little tooth
central New Jersey dentists, like dentists elsewhere,
often restore teeth with fillings of silver or composite plastics.
These materials can often accomplish the aim of replacing the part
of the tooth that has been lost in a strong and good-looking manner.
However, there comes a point where the damage to the tooth has removed
too much structure to hold a filling. The restoration must be done
by a technique that will attach to the remaining tooth, stand up under
heavier use and meet more elaborate cosmetic requirements. The Crown
is the dental restoration that can strengthen and restore the entire
top of a tooth. The crown can also be part of the attachment of a
fixed bridge for the replacement of teeth. The tooth is strengthened
because it is covered from the outside with a casting of metal or
ceramic that will wrap up and splint the tooth. The chewing of the
tooth can be improved because it can be reshaped to match more efficiently
with the opposing teeth. A crown can improve cosmetics by the use
of modern ceramic processes that produce translucency and color that
is more natural than has ever been possible. Please call us at 732-341-8500
or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions about crowns or to schedule a free cosmetic consultation.
Worn, broken, discolored, unsightly, silver-mercury
fillings
For over 100 years, central New Jersey dentists have
been using silver-mercury amalgam fillings to restore decayed or broken
teeth. The only other alternative was gold and that was always too
expensive for most folks. Now there is a new and economical way for
a dentist in New Jersey to restore teeth using tooth-colored
resin fillings. The resin is made up of glass particles in a plastic
matrix. The doctor bonds the putty-like material to the tooth with
a high-intensity light. This hardens the material and allows it to
be shaped and polished for immediate use. Once completed, the tooth
has a natural appearance and is actually stronger than before due
to the strength of the adhesive agent used to bond the resin to the
tooth. Resin restorations not only look better, but they are stronger
and last longer than the old silver-amalgam fillings. Please call
732-341-8500 or E-mail us at drrotem@comcast.net
with any questions you may have about the benefits of resin restorations
or to schedule a free cosmetic consultation.
